The Process

The Process

Initial site meeting On our first site meeting, time will be taken to listen to your thoughts and ideas relating to your project. We can discuss alternative ideas if you wish and then iron out any obvious design issues that may arise.

Site Measure Once the Brief has been discussed and understood. The process of site measure will be executed. This will involve about 2 hours where I can familiarise myself with the existing building or plot and see how the new structure will lye on the site. Extremely detailed measuring and photography will be carried out to enable sketches to be produced. From Brief to Design From the date of survey, it can take about two – three weeks to produce your initial sketches. If you have the benefit of e-mail facility, then 3D rendered modelling and ‘glass-house’ views can be provided over the internet. From these sketches you are encouraged to examine and alter the plans to suit your requirements. The process of e-mailing can continue until your demands are met.

The Planning Process A high proportion of building projects require planning permission.  The Draughtsman will be happy to complete the forms and submit the application to the local authority. Whilst this operation is included in the fee, the local authorities fee will be further required to accompany the application. To see if you Project requires planning permission, please visit the planning page on this web-site. The Building Regulations An even higher proportion of projects require building regulations approval, even if the project doesn’t require planning permission. You are advised to contact The Draughtsman or you local authority for further information on building regulations.
